JLC Gives Back Survival Packs 2017

We are the SCOPE Junior Leaders, a group of High School ‘camp people’ passionate about sharing the magic of summer camp with children whose families could not otherwise afford the camp experience.

The goals of our Camp Survival Packs Service Project are:

  • Fill as many packs with the necessary items children from financially disadvantaged families need in order to have an amazing summer at camp
  • Raise money to give the gift of summer camp to as many children as possible

How your donations help:

Some SCOPE campers come from homeless shelters or from homes that do not have access to the simple every day materials we take for granted. We would like to make the experiences these children have at camp even more positive by providing them with items to help keep them happy, healthy, and safe.

We are collecting monetary donations to purchase camp essentials (ie toothpaste, shampoo, soap) for SCOPE campers. On March 11, 2018 we will come together to stuff the packs for SCOPE campers who will attend one of SCOPE's partner camps, Camp Homeward Bound. Camp Homeward Bound is the nation’s first summer sleep-away camp designed specifically for homeless children (ages 7-15).

Thank you for supporting our efforts!

SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) is committed to providing children from underserved communities with life changing opportunities through the experience of summer camp.

The national nonprofit organization, founded in 1991, has provided over 25,000 camp scholarships to deserving children from the New York Tri-State area, Midwest, Southeast, and Southwest regions. Each year, hundreds of children receive the benefits of summer camp through SCOPE from funds raised from foundation and corporate partners, individual gifts, and fundraising events.
